Health Wonk Review for February 23, 2017
Could there be a more perfect time for a President’s Day edition of Health Wonk Review? I can’t imagine one. Seems like everything that’s in the news is “President Trump tweeted this” or “President Trump banned that” or “you thought President Nixon was a crook” or “I think I saw President Obama at a Broadway show” or …
Anyway, I think a lot of us are, in truth, “Presidented out” in an “unpresidented” way at this point. But hey, Monday was also President’s Day. So I guess I can’t fault David Williams for choosing the theme.
(And also, it was an opportunity for us to run this great photo of two Presidents who were really committed to improving the national healthcare system: #33 – Harry S. Truman and #36 – Lyndon B. Johnson. For their commitment, we salute.)
Oh, and we also salute David Williams for hosting the latest edition of HWR. He’s got a rather brief list of contributions this week, but some compelling themes to work with:
- Obama didn’t do enough to fight for Obamacare …
- Obamacare supporters won’t go quietly into the night …
- The Cadillac Tax might not get the axe …
- and a few more.
So … good stuff in this week’s compendium, obviously. No more spoilers, though. You’ll have to go check it out.
Next up: The March 9 edition of HWR, hosted by Health System Ed Blog. Until then …
Here’s to presidents who actually act presidential!
